IBN-AD accelerates anaerobic digestion by increasing the solubility of organic material and driving hydrolysis, the breakdown step that determines how much of a feedstock actually becomes biogas.
It can be used on its own, or combined with mechanical and biological pretreatment technologies from ALPS Ecoscience, our confirmed technology partner, for feedstocks that need more intensive preparation. Three deployment options cover the range from simple dosing to a fully engineered pretreatment stage:
- IBN-AD standalone, for feedstocks that respond well to solubilization and hydrolysis alone.
- IBN-AD combined with Hydrodynamic Cavitation (HDC), ALPS Ecoscience’s mechanical pretreatment step, for fibrous or lignocellulosic feedstocks that need particle size reduction ahead of hydrolysis.
- The full SMASH package, ALPS Ecoscience’s modular, dual-stage system combining HDC, IBN-AD, and their own biological process, with optional ammonia stripping and nutrient recovery add-ons, for maximum conversion efficiency.
